Raymond Pierce Head II Criminal Procedure, Head IV Professional Conduct and Head V Principles of Common Law Raymond Pierce MCIM, LL.B (Hons) (Lond.) is a practising Barrister-at-law in Hong Kong having been called to the bar of England and Wales in 1995 and in Hong Kong in 1997. Ray was for five years up to mid-December 2008, a Teaching Consultant with the Faculty of Law of the University of Hong Kong where he taught Civil, Criminal and Trial Advocacy, Criminal Procedure and Professional Practice, on the Post-Graduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL). Ray is an examiner for the Hong Kong Bar Association Barristers’ Qualification Examination (BQE) in Criminal Law, Evidence & Procedure and has for many years taught Head II Criminal Procedure, Head IV Professional Practice and Head V Common Law, on the Hong Kong Law Society Overseas Lawyers Qualification Examination (OLQE). He was also an Academic Assessor and External Examiner for the HKU SPACE Community College. He is an adjunct member of the Faculty of NITA (National Institute for Trial Advocacy) and co-designed and delivers the Hong Kong Law Society Structured advocacy programme for solicitors (2007- present). Colin Wright Head I Coneyancing; Head II Civil Procedure & Head III Commercial & Company Law Colin Wright LL.B (Hons) was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1987 and to the Bar of Hong Kong in 1999. Since commencing in practice in 1987, Colin has specialised in civil and commercial litigation. He has appeared at all levels of the superior courts in Hong Kong, including the Court of Final Appeal. Colin was a contributing editor of Hong Kong Civil Procedure (2001) and taught Civil Procedure as a part-time tutor at the University of Hong Kong between 2001 and 2006. He is an elected member of the Hong Kong Bar Council, a member of the Hong Kong Bar Association's Special Committee on Civil Justice Reform and a member of the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Maritime Law Association. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Colin was assessed by the Advocacy Training Institute of the United Kingdom as one of the leading advocacy trainers in Hong Kong. John Brewer Head III Commercial and Company John Brewer LLB (Hons) graduated in law and thereafter joined the Secretary's office of British Aerospace plc.He moved to Hong Kong in 1984 and managed the companies departments of leading law and accountancy firms and acted as General Counsel of public companies listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ.
John was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 2002.John's practice at the Bar includes companies and securities litigation, commercial fraud and disciplinary cases.He is the author of The Hong Kong Private Company (Butterworths, 1989 and 1995) and The Law & Practice of Hong Kong Private Companies (Sweet & Maxwell, 2005).
John is a part-time tutor on City University's PCLL course and a past examiner in Hong Kong Company Law for the Institute of Company Secretaries.
Farzana Aslam Head II Civil Procedure & Head III Commercial & Company Law Farzana took her LL.B. law degree at the University of London and then took the postgraduate BCL degree at the University of Oxford.Farzana was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1993.She then practised as a barrister in London as a member of the Chambers of James Guthrie QC at 3 Hare Court, Middle Temple for a period of seven years.In 2001, she joined the in-house legal team at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong for a period of six years. Farzana currently teaches Civil Litigation and Commercial Dispute Resolution on the PCLL Course, and Business and Human Rights on the LLM Human Rights course, at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). She has previously taught Commercial Law and Practice and Corporate and Commercial Transactions on the PCLL at HKU, Commercial Law at the London School of Economics, and Company Law on the PCLL Course at the City University of Hong Kong.She is the co-editor and a contributing author of Employment Law and Practice in Hong Kong, due to be published by Sweet & Maxwell in the Autumn of 2010.
